This site was created, is maintained, and is totally supported by me,
Colleen Gino. From January 1, 1999 to April 14, 2000 I was employed by UCLA as a full-time Solar Observer and Webmaster for the 150-Foot Solar Tower at Mt. Wilson Observatory. Unfortunately, due to a major loss of funding when NASA opted not to renew a large grant, my position was cut (ouch). I was employed until July, 2000 by the Mt. Wilson Institute as a contractor to perform various tasks such as the operation of the Natural Guide Star Adaptive Optics system on the 100" telescope for scientific data collection, operation of the 60" telescope for group visual observing sessions, and web mastering duties. In addition, I was a volunteer for the Telescopes in Education project on the mountain from February, 1997 as an operator for their 24" and 14" telescopes, as well as providing computer hardware and software support on their telescope control systems. Finally, as a docent for the Mount Wilson Observatory Association, I was occasionally called upon to assist with private and public tours of the observatory facilities. In addition, I have written articles for their quarterly publication, Reflections. The Mt. Wilson Virtual Observatory web site is the result of my interest in the astronomical history, natural history, and the ongoing scientific contributions of the Mt. Wilson Observatory. Unless otherwise noted, I am solely responsible for the both the written content and images found on this site. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, corrections or suggestions at the following email address: my last name, gino, @astrophys-assist.com Thanks for visiting my site, and please come back often!
