Monty Window for AOI:
Position cursor over desktop
(anywhere outside of a window) and click the right mouse button.
While keeping the right
mouse button depressed, move the cursor to “Operations Windows” in the
dropdown menu.
Select “Monty” by moving
the cursor to Monty on the dropdown menu and releasing the right mouse
button.
A new Monty window will
appear.
At the prompt type run
tel <CR>
At the prompt type ctrl
+ a
At the prompt type let
prv 0 <CR> (where 0 is zero)
At the prompt type /r
<CR>
At the prompt type JOB
<CR>
At the prompt type AOI
<CR>
To control the look &
behavior of the window:
Reverse Video, Scrolling

Enable scrolling by typing
an "s" while cursor is in the window.
Banshee Window for API:
Position cursor over desktop
(anywhere outside of a window) and click the right mouse button.
While keeping the right
mouse button depressed, move the cursor to “xterm on” in the dropdown menu.
Select “localhost” by moving
the cursor to localhost on the dropdown menu and releasing the right mouse
button.
A new Banshee window will
appear.
At the prompt type xhost
+ <CR>
At the prompt type rlogin
miranda –l sitemon <CR>
You will be prompted to
enter your workstation name: banshee <CR>
You will get another prompt
saying “If you have not already done so, please inter the command xhost
+sitemon.vla.nrao.edu”. You may disregard this prompt, and just hit
<CR>
Three API windows will open.
You will most often refer
to the “Structure Function” window (the figures that are entered into the
observing log come from this window). This is not one that comes up spontaneously.
To open this window, depress the right mouse button while the cursor is
in the body of one the API windows, and a menu will appear. Choose “Structure
Function” from the menu by _________.
You may want to turn off
the paging function (the paging function will toggle through different
screens in the window). Bring up the “Properties and Inputs” dialog box
(depress the right mouse button while the cursor is in the body of the
Structure Function window, and select “Properties and Inputs” from the
menu). Click on the “No Paging” option and close the screen by clicking
on the “Done” button at the bottom center of the window.
