This image was created using the blue and red flitered images from the Second Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, which has been digitized. You can acces this digital version, known as the Digitized Sky Survey 2, at many different online data centers. However, the Astronomical Data Center of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan makes a wide field version available, which is fantastic! You can retrieve images up to 6 x 6 degrees, which is a much larger scale than that offered by any other data service I've come across. If you are into wide field DSS images, this is the place for you!
