Experiments in HDR (high dynamic range) Photography and Tone Mapping



Series #2

Taken 2/18/07 at Box Canyon and The Box, west of Socorro, NM.

This series of images is a bit different, as rather than being a set of three images to create the hdr image, they were all a single image with the raw file converted to an hdr  then tone mapped in Photomatix. As before, further processing done in Photoshop, adjusting levels, saturation and color balance and selective use of dodge and burn as well as local saturation and sharpening.

None of the shots in and of themselves are great, but I really like the detail this method brought out in the cloudy sky.
