Experiments in HDR (high dynamic range) Photography and Tone Mapping

High dynamic range photography is a method in which one takes a number of exposures then combines them to capture a tonal range greater than what is possible in a single shot. There are a lot of great web sites that deal with this, just Google 'hdr photography' and go crazy!

All of the images on these pages were taken with a Nikon D80 digital SLR. The HDR images were created then tone mapped (a way of reducing a very high contrast hdr image to a lower contrast image) using a software program called "Photomatix', available at http://www.hdrsoft.com/index.html.
