Cloud Iridescence (moonlight)

September, 2004 :  CIT campus

Cloud iridescence, which is when you see colors in clouds, is caused by light being refracted by uniformly-sized water droplets in mid-level, thin clouds. This is commonly seen in the daytime with the bright light of the Sun, but less commonly seen at night from moonlight, as in this image.
